Litter picking

Litter picking

Litter, such as discarded Plastics, don’t just look terrible, they also endanger wildlife habitats and harm the environment. Dropped PPE (particularly disposable face masks and plastic gloves) in public places are a consequence of Covid.

If you choose to litter pick at the moment, you must observe social distancing and be extra careful around hand washing and safely using a litter picker and gloves. For further information see this guidance on litter picking during Covid.

Regular Litter Picks around Hitchin

The main Hitchin litter picks (organised by Hitchin Forum) take place twice a year in March/April and September/October. The dates are advertised about two months in advance, with suggestions of areas in need of litter picking welcomed. To sign up or for more information contact the Hitchin Forum: litter@hitchinforum.org.uk

For more information on organising your own litter pick see the North Herts District Council Toolkit.
