We have a great chance to elect a Green MP in North East Herts in the general election on 4th July. We need more Green MPs to hold the government to account on the environment and social justice issues and represent your views in parliament.
The Green Party candidate in North East Hertfordshire is Vicky Burt.
Vicky is a District Councillor on East Herts District Council and has met with a really good reception when out campaigning recently in Letchworth, Baldock and Royston.
In May 2023 we became the first political party in history to beat the Conservatives in Buntingford at District Council elections. The current Conservative MP Oliver Heald is standing down after many years, and on the day the election was called neither Labour nor Conservative parties had even announced a candidate, so it feels like we have an early advantage in terms of organisation and presence with voters. We feel that this seat is a wide-open contest, and that a great result here is very possible. The Buntingford result in 2023 proved that effective leaflets can win an election in this traditionally Conservative area.
With the seat having so much potential we are very keen to try our hardest to achieve a really good result. To make this happen will be hard work.
We are very lucky to have lots of wonderful volunteers, who helped us do so well in the local elections in 2023. Some of these volunteers will be leafletting in North East Hertfordshire over the next few weeks, but there is lots to do, and we really need more help, every extra pair of hands makes a big difference.
