About Us

The Green Party is growing fast. We now represent people in Westminster and in a record number of local councils. Your local party, North Herts & Stevenage Green Party, covers Stevenage and the North Herts towns of Baldock, Hitchin, Letchworth and Royston and surrounding villages. Our area includes three parliamentary constituencies: Stevenage, Hitchin and Harpenden, and North East Hertfordshire.

We campaign on issues of local, national and international importance including, environmental protection, climate change and biodiversity loss. We offer candidates in local and general elections and are currently working hard to get our first Green District and County Councillors elected. Once successful, they will bring much their needed voices on critical questions championed by the Green Party to those Council chambers.

In the Autumn of 2019 we launched a series of talks, “Truth for a Change”, presented in Hitchin Town Hall to highlight facts around Climate Change and some practical solutions to the Climate Emergency. The series featured four talks: Biodiversity, Lifestyle, Climate Change, and Transport. We followed with a second series in 2021 featuring talks on Sustainable Lifestyles and Food & Farming. Video recordings of all the sessions are available on our “Truth for a Change” page.

We’re working on matters key to the local communities within the Stevenage and North Herts area, focussing on sustainable, affordable and inclusive initiatives. As part of the Green Party of England & Wales, we share a deep concern for social and environmental justice, expressed through our national policies and political programme.

In all that we do we rely on people to power the movement rather than corporate finance.

Get involved with us today so that we can bring real change to Stevenage and North Herts, the UK and the planet!

The Green Party Political Programme sets out what Greens are in politics to do: to end the system that keeps hurting the environment and all of us who rely on it – and to build a better alternative.

This Programme isn’t like other parties’ manifestos, it has not been squeezed through focus groups and stripped down according to the latest polling. Instead it has been built from policies proposed and voted on by our members, looking to secure the long term future of the places and people they love.

It’s a vision of a better world, and together we can deliver it. Screenshot 2021-03-19 at 12.09.42
