North Herts Campaign Group

Your local Green Party is working hard to win elections in North Herts. We hold regular meet-ups in person and online to discuss our campaigns and organise events. There are lots of ways to contribute, so no matter your experience we would love to hear from you. Click here to get involved, or keep reading to find out more about what we do.

Our Goals

We support local election campaigns for Green Party candidates in both County Council and District Council elections. This involves planning social media strategies, organising leafleting and advertising campaigns in the run up to elections, and engaging with the community to build strong local connections. We do this because we believe in the power of local government to make life better for people and to protect our natural world, and to make sure that everyone in North Herts is able to vote Green. Our strategies are proven to succeed; There are now more Greens in local government than ever before!

What Areas Do WE Cover?

A cutout of a map showing the area of North Herts covered by the campaign group.

We cover the same area as the North Herts District Council, as shown above. It includes the towns of Royston, Letchworth, Baldock, Hitchin and Knebworth, as well as the surrounding villages. We aim to stand a candidate in every area and have achieved this in recent elections.

local government

Local government in Hertfordshire is split into 3 levels, each with different responsibilities. We focus on the top 2 levels: County Council and District Council.

Hertfordshire County Council is the upper level of local government. Elections run every 4 years, with the next one in May 2029. There are 9 councillors elected from North Herts, although none from the Green Party at present.

District councils are the second tier of local government. Elections are also held every 4 years, with the next one due in May 2028. There are 51 council seats available.
