About Us

The Green Party is growing fast. We now represent four constituencies in Westminster and a record number of areas on local councils. Your local party, North Herts & Stevenage Green Party, covers Stevenage and the North Herts towns of Baldock, Hitchin, Letchworth and Royston and surrounding villages. Our area includes three parliamentary constituencies: Stevenage, Hitchin, and parts of North East Hertfordshire.

We campaign on issues of local, national and international importance including environmental protection, climate change and biodiversity loss. We offer candidates in local and general elections and are currently working hard to get our first Green District and County Councillors elected. Once successful, they will bring much their needed voices on critical questions championed by the Green Party to those Council chambers.

We have two separate campaign groups working on matters key to the local communities within the Stevenage and North Herts Council areas, focussing on sustainable, affordable and inclusive initiatives.

As part of the Green Party of England & Wales, we share a deep concern for social and environmental justice, expressed through our national policies and political programme. In all that we do we rely on people to power the movement rather than corporate finance. Our political programme isn’t like other parties’ manifestos, it has not been squeezed through focus groups and stripped down according to the latest polling. Instead it has been built from policies proposed and voted on by our members, looking to secure the long term future of the places and people they love.

Volunteer Even if you don’t want to make the commitment of joining us, we always welcome supporters and volunteers. We are a grassroots party and we need you, whether that’s helping to deliver leaflets, speak to residents or contribute to our Policy Working Groups or Special Interest Groups. It’s by working together that we can win, and make a real change. If you’re not already involved, get involved!

Do you have fundraising experience or social media, IT, press, research or administrative skills? Whatever your level of experience and however much or little time you can give, we would love to hear from you.

For more information about ways that you can get involved, contact Jim Borcherds and Will Lavin (Co-chairs) by email admin@northherts.greenparty.org.uk

Donate We rely on donations from ordinary members and supporters to fund our activities. Please consider a one off donation, or setting up a regular monthly payment. Your donation will help us win more seats in this election and get our message out, for example, going towards printing and distributing our election leaflets or literature in support of our campaigns such as the one against the expansion of Luton Airport. Thank you!

Stand in Local Elections We need enthusiastic, committed and hard-working candidates. We are particularly keen to ensure diversity amongst our candidates.
Candidates must be paid-up members of the Green Party and support its main aims and policies.
