We invite our members and supporters to join us for Earth Hour 2022 by switching off your lights for one hour, on 26 March at 20:30 local time.
Every year on the last Saturday in March, supporters in over 190 countries unite to raise awareness of the issues facing the Earth. It is a small gesture, but with far reaching benefits for our planet. The first Earth Hour took place in 2007 and it quickly became a catalyst for change showing the governments around the world that people are concerned about the climate change. In 2021 while still facing Covid restrictions, people in 192 countries united in Earth Hour Virtual Spotlight highlighting the connection between nature loss, climate change and the rise of pandemics.
There are many ways to take part including events attendance, organizing an event, learning about loss of biodiversity, climate change and solutions to combat these issues, as well as sharing your stories to inspire others to participate.
Most importantly, taking part in Earth Hour goes beyond committing for one hour per year and it is about taking care of the planet and other people every day. This could mean eating more sustainably and supporting sustainable brands and businesses, reducing food waste, travelling responsibly to reduce CO2, eliminating plastic, saving water and energy and protecting natural spaces.
In solidarity with all life on Earth, switch off your lights for an hour on the 26th March and remember that there is so much that you can do to protect the Earth.
