Matt Fisher: Green Party Candidate for Hertfordshire Police and Crime Commissioner
Matt Fisher, a Green Party councillor in St Albans, is the Green Party’s candidate for the Hertfordshire Police and Crime Commissioner election this year.
Matt’s experience ranges from teaching in South Africa to serving as a Special Constable. He honed his leadership qualities as a Royal Navy officer, particularly while working with special forces. This naval experience instilled in him the motto “the Team Works” which he embodies in all he does.
Policing works best when police focus on how best to reduce harm to everyone. His policing plan will focus on what works to reduce long-term harms, working with other agencies to solve the problems that lead to crimes.
Matt says: “I have a strong moral compass, a sense of duty, and an innovative mindset. These qualities make me eager to collaborate with various community groups to develop strategies for safer, more vibrant, communities.”

Our Parliamentary Candidates in 2024
Vicky Burt for North East Herts
Vicky Burt is your parliamentary candidate for North East Herts – including Letchworth, Baldock, Royston and Buntingford.
I have lived in the heart of the constituency for over a decade. I am an East Herts District councillor for Buntingford ward where I am a teacher, run two businesses and I have three young children. In May 2023 all 3 Conservative councillors in Buntingford lost to Greens, a pattern repeated across East Herts and beyond. Voting Green does make a difference! It is a vote for our future.
We're canvassing to win in North East Herts - Come and join us!

Will Lavin for Hitchin
Will Lavin is your parliamentary candidate for Hitchin - including Arlesey, Shefford, Stotfold and Kimpton.
Will lives in the Purwell area of Hitchin. He works as a consultant in the city, but has previously owned small businesses including a shop and a restaurant. He campaigns to increase both the minimum wage and universal credit, and to increase tax on the wealthiest. Will is passionate about securing a better future by addressing climate change, air quality and house insulation.
Paul Dawson for Stevenage
Paul Dawson is your parliamentary candidate for Stevenage.
I had become rather disenchanted with the political system, with the other three main parties unable to offer anything to make real change. Then I heard Jonathan Bartley, then co-leader of the Green Party, speak in 2018. Here was something that made sense. Now I am standing as a candidate because I believe it is time to offer voters a real choice, for a fairer, greener country.
